Managing Tests

A Test in Login Enterprise is a comprehensive data structure designed to simulate user interactions and gather performance metrics. It encompasses several key elements:

  • Test type: Defines the organization of the Test, which can be a Continuous Test, Load Test, or Application Test.

  • Description: Provides detailed text that explains the purpose and specifics of the Test.

  • Provider and Environment: Offer information regarding platform organization and hosting costs for Load and Continuous Tests.

  • Connector information: Includes broker server details and resource specifications, identifying the Accounts and Launchers associated with the Test.

  • Accounts and Launchers: Managed through Launcher Groups or Account Groups, these define the set of user accounts and launcher hosts available for the Test.

  • Test and data collection options: Configure settings such as EUX scoring, Session Metrics selection, extended logging, screenshots, and testing schedules.

  • Actions: Outline the sequence of Application scripts, Application Groups, and Wait steps that simulate user activities.

  • Thresholds: Specify metrics with alarming thresholds that are visualized on charts and can trigger email alerts.

A Test orchestrates a sequence of actions performed by users to access, log in to, and interact with programs on designated resources, incorporating measurement thresholds and various configuration details. Application Groups organize Application Scripts and Wait steps, maintaining a single level of abstraction. Connector Information ties together Accounts, Launchers, and broker details to define Test targets, requiring the creation of Groups even for single Accounts or Launchers through selection or filtering methods.

Login Enterprise supports 3 Test types: Continuous, Load, and Application Testing, each utilizing the same Application scripts and engine but offering distinct scheduling options and purposes to meet diverse testing needs.

Aside from the Login Enterprise user interface, you can also manage Tests via the Public API. For more information, see Using the Public API.
