Solution Overview

Hydra is a purpose-built control plane for managing Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments at scale. It bridges the gap between native Azure constructs and enterprise virtual desktop requirements by providing a centralized orchestration layer. Hydra simplifies complex deployment scenarios, streamlines tenant onboarding, and automates daily operational tasks, freeing IT teams to focus on delivering consistent, high-performance user experiences.

The Hydra platform is designed with modularity, scalability, and extensibility in mind. Whether managing a single business unit or hundreds of tenants across regions, Hydra delivers a consistent framework for provisioning, monitoring, and optimizing AVD workloads.

Key capabilities include:

  • Blueprint-Based Provisioning: Standard Host Pool configuration with image versioning, role assignments, and storage/network configuration.

  • Multi-Tenant Segmentation: Native logical tenant boundaries with scoped permissions.

  • Scheduled Automation: Power state scheduling, autoscaling rules, Windows and application updates, and scheduled imaging and deployments.

  • Native Integrations: Support for FSLogix, Hybrid Active Directory, Microsoft Entra, and Intune.

  • Built-In Observability: Real-time session insights, user experience metrics, and detailed operational logging.

Hydra is deployed in brownfield AVD environments, with near-term plans for supporting greenfield environments. It is compatible with both cloud-native identity and hybrid-joined models.
